Guides & OutfittersBack to ListingMountain GoatsIn August 2006 I bowhunted for mt goats with Moon Lake Outfitters. I've described a bit of their camps, cost, etc. in the "outfitter listing" portion of this web page. This bowhunt was the hunt of a lifetime. Their hunting area is Atlin, BC, about 2 hrs drive south to southwest of Whitehorse. We drove then boated to a cabin on a large lake from where we hunted. We used a spotting scope from the water the first afternoon and saw 21 billies. Next day we hiked up an area and I shot a record-book goat. It was tough, but a great hunt. Guides are extremely knowledgeable and professional. As good as they get. You pay for the best at Moon Lake and you get the best. Goats with a bow are not easy, but your chances here are good because the guides know what to do and the animals are there. Most goats you will hunt have never seen a human. Wild... of course, but not hunted that much. If you can get up the mts your chances are very good. Be in shape, wear ankle high hiking boots, listen to the guides, and have fun. Moon Lake believes that the experience of the hunt is what it is all about, and they will do everything to make that experience a good one. This is an A-plus adventure.
