Black Bear - Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec

I’ve taken 40 bowhunts for black bears over the past 38 years and have bowhunted for bears in many states and provinces. There are several guides that I could recommend, depending on what you want. Some bowhunters would be satisfied with average bears, others would like larger bears. Some want to hunt color-phased bears. I’m continually finding new locations and will list them as I find them. I’m especially high on Alberta and Saskatchewan for bear hunting, but other areas, especially in Canada, are excellent. Again, contact me for advice on bowhunting black bears. In the spring of 2001, I bowhunted with Jordy McAuley in Alberta. I saw quite a few bears, and missed a dandy the last evening. A friend took a bear that scored over 19 ". Jordy hunts hard and runs baits all over the area near the Peace River.

I've bowhunted five times withClearwater Adventures in Saskatchewan.  They have 500 square miles, run around 40 baits and take around 6 bowhunters and gunhunters a week (by the way, mixing bow and gun just isn't a problem anywhere.....areas are just so big it doesn't matter). Richard, Ramona, and Johnnie Farago run a super camp. They have a brand new lodge, cabins, hot showers, simply outstanding food, and lots of bears. If you want a color phase bear, around 40% are found there. Pike fishing is good. A great place for your first bear hunt.
