Harro & Helga have run this outfit for 11 years. They have a main camp, and 6 outpost camps on lakes, some reachable by air, most by water. All camos are very nice, comfortable, clean. Exceptionally organized. They only take 20-25 hunters/yr, so that they can provide the best service to all clients.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
I bowhunted mt goats there in late August, 2006. Exceptional hunt. Tough mts, but lots of goats, and exceptional guides. I rate everything as the best there is. Cost for 10 day hunt was approximately $10,000. Expensive, yes, but you get the best when you hunt at Moon Lake. They believe the experience is what guiding is all about and they bend over backwards to make the experience worthwhile. For me it was as good as it gets.

Billy hunts the prairie farm country east and south of Calgary. You stay at his home, and hunt from blinds in areas that have big antelope bucks. He really scouts hard.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
I hunted there 3 years ago. Cost was around $2500 for 5 days. You will see more antelope in Wyoming, but Billy has some big bucks here. I took the # 5 buck with bow for Alberta. This is a great place to get a great buck.

Ben Arsenault is a super guy. Very professional. He has permission to hunt in 4 national parks in Quebec. All with nice lodges, super food (he hires gourmet chefs from Quebec City), reasonable cost (I believe I paid $1300 for 5 days in 2002), great fishing.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
Not a lot of big bears, but a goodly number of bears. Takes 8 hunters per week for 4 weeks. Each hunter hunts bait that has not been hunted before. You book through Greg Bonecutter. He is the real deal. Honest, up front.

You fly to San Antonio, rent car and go west around 2 hrs to Utopia. Stay in bunk house, cook own meals. Pay $150 per day I believe. Hunt baited sites for hogs. Lots of great hogs there.

Nickie has a farm that he part owns in eastern Montana on the Missouri River. You stay in a farm house, cook own meals. I haven't hunted there for 5 years, so don't know price. Around $2000 for 5 days. Put up own stands. You hunt on your own, but they show you the layout and where best spots are.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
You will see lots of 125-135 bucks. And there are some dandies there as well. They come out of river bottoms to feed on sugar beets and alfalfa. A great hunt

You must get drawn for tag, or you can buy a landowners permit. For bow, such a permit for a bull is $2000. You either stay at Ken and Susans home, or you hunt from tent camp about 50 miles from there. Great food, lots of really good bulls.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
You hunt public or private land. The public land hunting is limited by permits, so you will see a good number of elk and some very good bulls. Ken and his guides really know the country and know what they are doing. This is a great hunt. I believe the guide cost is $3600, plus the license. I took a very nice bull there in 2003, and am returning this fall.

This is a drawing and Craig can tell you when to apply and in what area. If you do not get drawn (and it is tough) you can buy a landowners tag through Craig. They are expensive. But you hunt a private ranch, with little pressure. Lots of bulls.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
You stay in the high mts in a cabin (house) that Craig built. Good food, hot showers, etc. Then you hit the high mts, glassing till you spot a good moose, then you stalk. I shot a huge bull the first day. Thank you Lord. Great hunt of a lifetime.

You stay in bed and breakfast, and bow or gun hunt big Alberta bucks. He scouts and hunts on great property just outside the bow zone near Edmonton. Young guy who knows his stuff. Honest. Ethical. Christian.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
I missed one P&Y buck with Kevin and saw the biggest whitetail I've ever seen in the woods. 6x6 typical in 190-200 class. What a buck. Early to mid november is cold but a great time to be up there.

Great lodge and wonderful food (Ramona is an exceptional cook). Good northern fishing right there. Nice cabins, nice, new lodge. Take bow and gun hunters. Good number of bears, some colored. They take a few big bears each year.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
Richard and Ramona Farago run a great bear camp. They work very hard. Lots of bears, and they take 2-3 Pope and Young sized bears each year. This is a super camp to take your wife and kids. Lots to do. Cost is reasonable. I've hunted here at least 5 times, maybe more.

In the far north of Newfoundland out of Saint Anthony. You fly there from Saint Johns. Wonderful lodge. Lots of big territory. Good caribou found separate from good moose habitat, so best not to hunt both at same time.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
I got a good bull there 3 years ago and saw a good number of others. Cost is around $3000 for 6 days. Her lodge is a bed and breakfast. Extremely nice. She is very professional and well respected. Ck recent references to make sure caribou are there as they seem to be down a bit all over Newfoundland.

You stay at their lodge three hours drive straight north of Edmonton. They pick you up. SUper food. WOnderufl lodge. October, bowhunt deer on edges of alfalfa fields. I hunted in the fall of 2004. Three of 6 bowhunters took Pope & YOung bucks. One was a 190 class non typical. Whoa. I believe price is $3000.

You stay in nice bunk house at the ranch. You hunt another ranch about 30 miles away. Large property, no game-proof fences. Spot and stalk. Not much cover so getting close with bow is tough, but doable. Three day hunts. Not sure of cost today.......as I was there in 1999. Depends on how much meat you want.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
I hunted there in early January. Very cold. These animals are very skittish, so you just take your time and hope to get them in a place where you can get close. I took a huge bull there on third day of my hunt. SCI # 2.

Dr. Dave's Comments:
When you contact Mark, mention my name. You must have a passport to hunt in Mexico. Don't need it going in, but you can't get out of Mexico into the USA without a passport. Mollina's hunts are 6 full days for $4,500 and this includes the $300 license. You cannot beat this price. His stands are over water, and in perfect locations relative to wind, etc. You sit all day because they water aLl day. Be ready to shoot out to 40 yds but 20 yard shots are common. You can also arrange a one on one stalking hunt. I cannot recommend this ranch any higher for Coues deer.

Hunts a wide area around Peace RIver. GReat food, very nice lodge. Lots of bears. Some colored bears. You leave in morning, check baits all day, get in stand late afternoon. Get home late, as with most Alberta bear hunts. Jordy works hard for you.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
I missed one big bear. Passed on many average bears. My buddy shot a huge 19"+ bear. I hunted there in 2002, and I believe the cost was $2500 for 2 bears.

You can now hunt for musk oxen in August-September when the weather is warm. You fly to Yellowknife, then to Cambridge Bay, then boat 3 hours to tent camp. There is a 2-bull limit at Cape Peel where we hunted. And there are lots of musk oxen. The fur is good, the experience fantastic.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
This is an exceptional bowhunt and experience. And you won't freeze your butt off to get a musk oxen. Daytime temps get to 50 degrees or so. License for a musk oxen is around $160. And you can now hunt two bulls if you wish. There is an extra cost to the guide for the 2nd bull.

Fly to San Antonio, drive east around 2 hrs to Utopia. They have 1800 acres fenced where the hog hunting is super. A good number of black buck as well. Stay in bunk house, very nice. Good kitchen. Cook own meals. Daily rate for hogs is super. Hunt aoudad and axis deer on another ranch, unfenced. Super animals, and Bill knows how to get you close for bowhunting.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
In 5 days I took 2 hogs and a top 5 blackbuck at the South Hills Ranch. I also took an aoudad ram and a top 12 axis deer at his friends 8800 acre ranch. Unfenced. Bill knows how to get you on both these species. Great hunt. I went in early May when axis deer were really rutting.

Bear hunt about 5 hrs drive north of Edmonton in great tent camp on river. Real beds, gourmet chef, hot showers. Cost around $3200 includes all licenses, wolf license, 2 bear tags, and transportation from Edmonton.
Dr. Dave's Comments:
This is one of the finest bear camps I've ever hunted. Two bear limit in Alberta. I took a bear on the ground on a stalk hunt in the fall of 2003. And took a giant bear, colored, with bow in spring of 2004. These folks know what they are doing and treat you right.

Has fly-in camps. Go to Gander and he float planes you in. Spot and stalk hunts. My partner and I got 2 great bulls with bow. I haven't been there for 6 years, so ck recent references to see if there are good caribou still there (caribou numbers seem to be down all over Newfoundland of late, so ck it out). But Wayne works very hard for you and is a great guide.
